Why Mount A? The community.
The small university setting combined with the town of Sackville
means that we have an intimate community where you’ll have the same people in
a lot of your classes and activities. You can see professors walking
down the street in Sackville and run into them when you go out.
It’s a pretty unique place.
Favorite Mount A memory? At the beginning of the
year, everyone is slowly trickling back into town. I love when
I’m hanging out with friends and someone walks into the room
who we haven’t seen for months. You would think that a rockstar
had just walked in, but it’s the same reaction for pretty
much everybody. So cool.
What is your favorite place on campus? The chapel
in the middle of the day. No one is ever in there and if the sun
is out, the light through the stained glass windows is beautiful.
It’s quiet, relaxing, and a great place to go to escape for
five minutes while rushing between classes and appointments.
Which superpower do you think would be most helpful to
have at Mount A? Jedi Mind Trick “These are not
the droids you are looking for.”
Knowing you can do anything, what would you like to do? I
want to go abroad after I graduate to volunteer for a couple of
years before heading back for more school and then hopefully some
sort of career that will let me travel around the world and work
with lots of different people.
Who do you respect most? US Senator Bernie Sanders.
I interned for him a couple of summers ago. He’s one of two
independents in the US Senate and unlike the horror stories you
hear sometimes about politicians, he really does stand for his
morals and is willing to fight for what’s best for his constituents.
I respect anyone who has the backbone to stand up and fight, even
in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
How did you spend your summer vacation? I participated
in the Mount Allison-Shastri Program so I spent two months in Mysore,
India. We took courses for seven weeks and then spent the last
week traveling around to various sites in Southern India. Amazing
experience, I recommend it to everyone.
What quality do you most admire in someone? The
ability to be oneself no matter what.
If you could tell one thing to everyone, what would it
be? Relax and just go with the flow.
What do you like most about Mount Allison? The
fact that I can walk around campus and recognize at least 50% of
the faces I pass by.
What do you want to tell prospective Mount A Students? Don’t
rush your decision and most importantly, make your own decision.
There is no wrong choice.
